Continuous assessment and formal examinations will be used to assess the pupils’ progress.
It is common practice for teachers to set written homework. Homework and marking strategies are normally left to the individual class teacher’s discretion. It is policy to devote one day a week to study homework. Children are encouraged to read every day, including during weekends and during holidays. Parents are encouraged to communicate with the teacher via a note on the homework copybook. Teachers will find the note while correcting the pupils’ work and can answer via the same way. To discuss confidential matters parents must fix an appointment.
The class teacher may carry out tests on a weekly or monthly basis. Theoretically, all schoolwork and homework is a form of testing academic progress. Formal class-based tests are however particularly suitable for familiarizing pupils with exam procedures and conditions.
